Today was a side trip of sorts, as I needed to get to MINI of Austin by 3:30pm for an oil change. This meant not following the pack and taking roads that seemed very much off the beaten path. Alex Rose, one of my fellow MINI skirts drove along with me - she wanted to get to Austin ahead of everyone to try out Franklin's Barbecue. We charted a more direct route into Austin and took off on our own.
Along the way we stopped at a very colorfully decorated rest stop, popped into a McDonald's in Post for a quick bite and then pretty much enjoyed a quiet ride over the rolling Texan countryside and all the clouds...
I made it into Austin ahead of schedule, Felix got his oil on! Many many thanks to MINI of Austin for the servicing. After this stop I motored onto my night spot where I got to AirBNB it in an Airstream trailer.
The evening event at the Palmer Center was a rocking good time complete with armadillos, Texas Long Horns, food trucks and fun, fun people. Throw in an after party on Sixth Street in Austin and you have the recipe for a madcap crazy long night. Because everything is bigger in Texas y'all.
